Essential Oils by Trimester

OILS TO AVOID IN PREGNANCY

The decision to use essential oils during pregnancy can be a difficult one. There are a wide variety of opinions on the matter, often with conflicting and confusing claims.

For example, some women choose to avoid excessive use of these specific oils:

• Clary Sage or Sage

• Fennel

• Wintergreen

• Idaho Tansy or Hyssop

• Peppermint

• Blends and supplements that contain these oils

However, essential oil usage is a personal choice, and there are no hard-and-fast rules. Just be sure to follow label directions and consult a medical professional with essential oil experience to be as safe as possible. When used correctly, essential oils can help form a beautiful bond between motherhood and Mother Nature.

FIRST TRIMESTER

• Stick to oils that are familiar and fresh, such as Lavender, Citrus Fresh & Lemongrass.

• Start low and go slow. Experiment by diffusing a small amount of oil in a spacious area and see how you respond. If you don’t have any issues, try diffusing a higher concentration of the oil, and consider applying it to the skin after diluting it with a carrier oil.

• Keep nausea at bay by snacking regularly. Slique Bars, Pure Protein Complete, pretzels, fruits, veggies and nuts are all great options.

• Support energy levels with NingXia Red — this will be your best friend!

SECOND TRIMESTER

• Exercising during pregnancy can be tough. Diffuse essential oils such as R.C, Citrus Fresh and Jade Lemon to inspire you to get moving.

• Support your growing baby bump by applying skin supporting oils like Lavender and Frankincense

• Follow good oral hygiene practices by brushing and flossing regularly with our Thieves line.

• Keep hydrated with Ningxia Red and enjoy the wellness boost.

THIRD TRIMESTER

• Support healthy looking skin by applying essential oils topically. Add several drops to your facial moisturizer or body lotion and apply daily. Some of my faves are Frankincense and Copaiba.

• Prepare your labour toolkit. Using anything energising or calming are a great support. Drinking Ningxia Red to support energy levels is fantastic too!

• Incorporate essential oils such as Peace & Calming or Stress Away into your bedtime routine to create a relaxing aroma.

• Boost confidence and self-esteem by diffusing Valor or White Angelica.
